About Trillium AreaThe Girl Guides of Canada - Guides du Canada, is part of the largest worldwide organization of women and girls. There are 144 countries whose members are either Girl Guides or Girl Scouts. We belong to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (known as W.A.G.G.G.S.).
Nationally, Canada has approximately 135,000 members. Each province is a separate level of Guiding. In Ontario there are approximately 93,000 female members. The Province is then divided into 12 Areas. Trillium Area being one of those Areas.
Trillium Area administers Guiding from Middlesex County down to the Windsor border and up as far as Grand Bend and all points in between.
For the purposes of easier administration, the Area is then divided into 3 more levels. The Area is separated into 11 Divisions.
These Divisions are named on the map below.
In turn each Division is subdivided into 7-12 Districts. There are 67 Districts.
Lastly and most importantly are the individual units. This year in Trillium Area there are 545 units. These Units consist of 8000 girls, ranging in age from 5- 17 years and 1700 Guiders (Leaders). Each level of Guiding, from National to the Districts supports the Units in some form, be it program support, campership, merchandising or other.
